Learn about the best websites to develop your abilities as a sales professional.

Being a sales professional for some is a natural fit and the best job in the world. For me I fit that category, I love being a sales pro. Getting up in the morning I often can hardly wait to get out of the door and go visit my customers. Regardless if this is your situation or not, being a sales professional is not an easy job. You may love it like I do, but it is much more difficult than it often looks.

No matter how long you have been a sales professional there is always something new to learn. The landscape of doing business is changing at an exponential rate and new technology is disrupting long-standing methods of doing business. To assist you in developing new skills as a sales professional we have compiled this list of 15 websites (in no particular order) that will help you master being a sales professional.

#1 – Harvard Business Review – With articles like How B2B Sales Can Benefit from Social Selling and Avoid These Common B2B Content Marketing Mistakes you will always be kept up to date with relevant sales and marketing information from an authority.

#2 – Branding Magazine – This online magazine focuses on the very important area of building your brand. You can learn about personal branding and company branding. Check out the great article How B2B CMO’s Can Align Sales and Marketing as an example of how this magazine will educate you on sales and marketing through the lens of building a brand.

#3 – EOFIRE – You knew that this list would include podcasts and this is the first on our list. Have a listen to John Lee Dumas daily podcast where he interviews entrepreneurs from around the world. Although this podcast is not dedicated to just sales, the collective knowledge base presented with over 1500 interviews and counting will give you many insights into what you can do to be a more effective sales professional.

#4 – Content Marketing Institute –  In our digital world, marketing and sales are interconnected as never before. The Content Marketing Institute does a good job linking the two. Read one article that discusses this called 5 Not-So-Obvious Ways Sales Can Leverage Content Marketing to Close Deals.

#5 – Business Insider – The Business Insider website is full of articles and resources for sales professionals, managers, executives, and entrepreneurs. The article Best Sales Tips for Closing Deals Faster written by Blogger Eugene Kim was shared 9700 times over 5 social networks.

#6 – Easy Automated Sales – Imagine if your company built an automated marketing system that generated not only leads but actual sales. Fully integrated automated marketing and sales systems have arrived and it is going to impact your job. This website will give you insight into how these systems work. #7 – Social Media Examiner – As an outbound sales professional you understand that building relationships is very important in business. Social Media Examiner will help you use social media tools to accomplish this and actually make sales using social media. Check out 5 Ways to Sell More Products via Social Media, an excellent article to get you started.

#8 – Entrepreneur – The mission of this website is to help you start, run, and grow your business. Of course, sales is the foundation of that process. With hundreds of articles covering a wide range of business and sales related topics this is a go-to site for me. We Are All in Sales is one of the most recent articles written that gives three techniques to make you a better sales professional.

#9 – Forbes – Business news and financial news by Forbes will keep you in the loop on all of the comings and goings of industries all over the world. By using this website you can be well informed without having to go to multiple places to get your news.

#10 – Linking Into Sales – The podcast is good, the blogs are well-written, the training courses are affordable, and the sales coaching is relevant. This is a great website with real value. The team at Linking Into Sales are focused on social selling strategies that sales professionals use to discover prospects, engage buyers, and develop business relationships using social media. Episode 105 with John Ferrara CEO of Nimble was very impactful for me especially when he discusses the future of outbound sales professionals.

#11 – Sales for Life – This Canadian based consulting firm produces content to help sales professionals with a proven framework for social selling success that leverages digital and social strategies to align with today’s buyers and grow your revenue.

#12 – Brian Tracy – True story, Brian Tracy’s best-selling book the Psychology of Selling enabled me to DOUBLE my income in one year. Brian Tracy provides a lot of free content and his paid content is worth every penny. #13 – Eyes on Sales – This website helps sales professionals “raise the bar” by providing sales tips and resources to help you achieve better results. We all face similar problems, for example, we all experience customers that try to get us to focus on lowering our prices to get a sale. Eye on Sales contributor Monika Götzmann tackles this issue in her article How Sales Teams Should Approach Price Negotiations.

#14 – Sales Dog – I love their tagline “Your Best Friend in Sales!” but seriously this website is focused on providing you with free sales training and advice to help you make more money. In addition to their free content, the paid downloads are very reasonably priced and are fair value.

#15 – HubSpot – The founders of HubSpot were MIT graduates who came to the simple observation that “People don’t want to be interrupted by marketers or harassed by salespeople. They want to be helped.” HubSpot wants to make the marketing and sales process human. This website is unique on this list because it is actually a software provider and a resource for marketing and sales professionals.
